What's New for the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban?

This model year, Chevrolet made a couple of tweaks to the American auto industry's longest continuously produced model. The company added Shadow Gray Metallic to the available paint colors and subtracted Havana Metallic and Tungsten Metallic from the list. Also, Chevy modernized the badge it adds to this large SUV's tailgate for buyers who select its Premier package.

Drivers can choose one of three Suburban trim groups, which are LS, LT and Premier. In each setup, Chevrolet offers rear-wheel and four-wheel-drive configurations. For easy entry and exit, every 2019 Suburban includes assist steps along its sides. Premier buyers gain the option to add the model's available power-retractable assist steps. The most-luxurious trim level also includes heated, auto-dim outside mirrors with integrated turn signals. These useful mirrors are also available to LT buyers. Black, roof-mounted side rails are a standard feature on the 2019 Suburban, and buyers who opt for LT or Premier setups can also add a power sunroof. In the LS and LT trims, drivers will find 18-inch wheels. Premier drivers will enjoy 20-inch wheels. With each setup, drivers can access available 22-inch wheels. For maximum vision, Premier provides fog lamps and high-intensity discharge headlamps, and this trim level provides elite comfort through heated front and second-row seats. Buyers who choose a Suburban LT will acquire a programmable liftgate, and Premier drivers will enjoy one with hands-free capabilities.

Under the Hood of the 2019 Suburban

2019 Chevrolet Suburban Exterior FrontChevy built this year's Suburban with its 5.3-liter EcoTec3 engine. This V8 power plant features an aluminum block, direct fuel injection and variable valve timing, which maximizes fuel efficiency while achieving 355 horsepower. To harness those horses, Chevrolet provided its largest SUV with a six-speed, automatic transmission that includes tap-shift capabilities for drivers who like to fully engage with the road. Premier buyers seeking a stronger Suburban can opt for the available 6.2-liter EcoTec3, which creates 420 horsepower. Attach that engine to Premier optional 10-speed, automatic transmission for fierce drives.
